An abbreviation can be a perfectly legitimate word (even for word games) if it is in common or somewhat common use. For instance, "bus" is technically an abbreviation of "omnibus" (which has its own fun origin story). Ideally word games use a dictionary that only includes commonly used (and inoffensive) words, but that requires a lot of editing, and different people and regions have different ideas of what is "common". Enable (used for Babble) is a crappy dictionary in many ways, but it is free, which I'm sure was Dr. God's primary consideration.
