MollyL

4:19 am
ivesyj
tks molly. i will look into it. right now im looking for a decent word search site.
5:04 am
Deeha
I resent being inundated with unwanted ads then being asked to pay not to get them. Or is it just me?
5:04 am
MollyL
Ad Blocker is free
5:05 am
Deeha
oh? The one I looked at was only free for the first month
5:06 am
ivesyj
this one just started popping up right on the more words site. very annoying..
5:14 am
dofith
My morewords has stopped working for me. I always go to the old version, but now I get a "bad request" message which I don't know what to do with. I've started using "wordfinder.yourdictionary.com" -took a while to figure it out but getting used to it now.
5:17 am
saanichcat
dofith, is that the same as the one I use, from Merriam Webster, called 'wordfinder: unscramble words and letters'? I have found it easy to use, no ads.
5:18 am
saanichcat
It also has definitions
5:19 am
saanichcat
and is more up to date as well.
5:53 am
mattygroves
I use uBlockOrigin light. Blocks most ads - even on YouTube, and it's free
6:02 am
dofith
This one is from YourDictionary - don't know if Merriam Webster is behind it or not. It also has definitions. I like it more the longer I use it - so far, I always get my word!
6:04 am
dofith
Damn! Sorry. Not even a word.

9:52 am

hurshy

9:58 am
origami
Old MW didn't work for me yesterday
9:58 am
hurshy
ooh now it is working
10:00 am
mkg
the trouble is when you put in co------, there are hundreds of words that are there.
10:01 am
hurshy
yeah you have to find ways to narrow it down sometimes
10:01 am
BzznBea
mkg, put in a third letter to help narrow it down.
10:03 am
hurshy
phantom: consul
10:05 am
mkg
there must be some di 8 chemical. hmmm
10:05 am
BzznBea
Are you still looking for an 8?
10:07 am
BzznBea
co8 - some states are divided into these.
10:07 am
mkg
got it. super great clue bea. ty.
10:08 am
mkg
how did i miss that one? wow. ty
10:08 am
mkg

10:13 am
hurshy
have we got any 8-prefix words today?
10:17 am
hurshy
i mean oct- stuff, in case that's unclear
10:19 am
mkg
i dont have the two di words. one is a plural judging from lickity
10:20 am
mkg
i am sure it is a chemical but there are hundreds of them in morewords
10:20 am
hurshy
could just as easily be dis- something
10:22 am
mkg
true hurshy. true.
10:23 am
mkg
oh my just got one dis 7. ty for that dis idea.
10:24 am
hurshy
7? or was it an 8 really?
10:25 am
mkg
it was a seven. yup.
10:25 am
hurshy
oh cause i got an 8, to cause division and polarization
10:29 am
mkg
wow. great hurshy. will see what i can find.
10:30 am
mkg
i have one 8, the co. looking for the di words
10:50 am
BzznBea
I think the 8 hurshy was referring to is a di8
11:08 am
rururocks
two di8's and one un8
11:09 am
BzznBea
ru, do you use microgreens in your cooking/presentation?
11:13 am
welki
bea, i grow sprouts. i like the idea of microgreens, but they're a bit more labor intensive (and these days, i'm into e.a.s.y.)
11:15 am
BzznBea
Yes, I remember you talking about sprouts.
11:16 am
BzznBea
Do you buy a special type of seeds?
11:17 am
welki
yes, all non-gmo. this year, china rose red radish, red cabbage, red russian kale and broccoli
11:17 am
welki
i have some bok choy left over from last year, too
11:18 am
BzznBea
I found a "farmer" that grows microgreens. I purchase from her.
11:19 am
BzznBea
I was thinking about doing sprouts. I'll look into it a bit more. The nutrional value is a bit different for each.
11:19 am
welki
microgreens are ''prettier' than sprouts, but for my use, looks don't matter
11:20 am
welki
i may be wrong, but i think you'd have to eat a ton of sprouts or microgreens to actually see some nutritional benefit. go for taste and appearance :)
11:22 am
welki
i went to a body modification studio yesterday and had two closed ear piercings redone - i wanted to stay away from Claire's, preferring an experienced professional to a kid wielding what amounts to a staple gun.
11:23 am
BzznBea
Yes, it does take a lot to get the nutrients. However, I was standing in the fridge eating greens from the box.
11:23 am
welki
they are interesting places, body mod shops
11:23 am
welki
what kind of greens, bea?
11:24 am
BzznBea
Yes, they are. I've had my nose pierced and a third piercing in each ear.
11:25 am
BzznBea
Sunflower, kohlrabi, radish, pea. I got two big boxes and they ahve different mixes in them.
11:26 am
hokie carla
phantom widget. howdy, folks.
11:26 am
welki
i love kohlrabi - never tried sprouts, but i bet they're a little spicy
11:26 am
BzznBea
I was wondering about you, carla.
11:26 am
hokie carla
if I'm seeing widgets that aren't there?
11:26 am
BzznBea
They are spicy. Yummy good.
11:27 am
welki
(and i stay away from sprouting 'big' seeds like sunflower and pea - i find that they taste pretty raw to me, but that's my weirdo palate)
11:28 am
BzznBea
I can see where sprouting them would work well.
11:28 am
BzznBea
I don't have enough sunlight in my house to grow microgreens.
11:29 am
welki
oh - and i also stay away from tiny seeds that are hard to keep inside a sprouting jar (they come out through the tiniest drain holes)
11:29 am
welki
that's a consideration with microgreens - you'd need a lamp. it becomes a 'project,' while sprouts only take up the space of one jar on your counter
11:30 am
BzznBea
Noted. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try sprouts.
11:30 am
hurshy
plus sprout is just a fun little word
11:31 am
hokie carla
oh, we've already got a bear visiting us this year
11:32 am
rururocks
funny you ask bea I am tonight.
I"m making roasted halibut with a tomato/roasted red pepper coulis and topping it with arugula sprouts and thyme
11:32 am
welki
last sprout hint. buy these, they go on a wide mouth mason jar and will make sprouting a breeze
https://tinyurl.com/546t8f9r
11:32 am
hurshy
that sounds delicious ru
11:32 am
welki
mmmmmm ... halibut
11:33 am

11:37 am

11:38 am
rururocks
As a point of reference...we call it Champagne and not Champers
11:42 am
hokie carla
who calls it champers? never heard that
11:43 am
hurshy
is it maybe a thing among a certain type of Brits?
11:44 am
hurshy
i've heard of it but not sure exactly
11:50 am
hokie carla
it's bad when the J is the easiest tile in a column
11:51 am
hurshy
i got the i words np
11:51 am
hokie carla
I found 2 and 1 on the i's

11:52 am

11:53 am
hokie carla
IDK but I will look it up
11:53 am
hokie carla
yes it is the pl of that or of i4 eye part not in grid
11:55 am
hurshy

11:56 am
bichon

9:22 pm
stidmama
:-) Thanks, then! I also tried emoticon today!
9:23 pm
hokie carla
emoticon is way too new for the word list used here
9:23 pm
hokie carla
howdy folks
9:23 pm
stidmama
that's true, hokie carla!
9:23 pm
stidmama
I guess 20 years is rather a long time. ;-)
9:25 pm
hokie carla
well, just checked merriam-webster - first known use was 1987! so not too new. and I never turn down an opportunity to use pormanteau - emoticon is obviously one
9:26 pm
stidmama
You are far more curious than I am today. but I agree that portmanteaux are great!
9:26 pm
stidmama
struggling with the di 7 between the 8s. Any help? I have the 8s...
9:27 pm
hokie carla
I don't have any 8s nor di7s but will look.
9:31 pm
hokie carla
I can only see distinct, which isn't there
9:33 pm
stidmama
I tried that one a lot! LOL no worries, I won't finish tonight anyway. Trying very hard to get to sleep at least an hour before flip on work nights.
9:34 pm
hokie carla
yeah, I'm trying to get to sleep earlier
9:35 pm
hokie carla

9:35 pm
hokie carla

9:36 pm
hokie carla
oh, since you've been gone a while you probably missed the hurshian notation we use for how many left of each length. I have 12-14-9-5-3 left.
9:38 pm
stidmama
Is THAT what it's about? LOL okay: 35, 21, 16, 5, 1

9:39 pm
hokie carla
not a word, and I've already tried it
9:40 pm
hokie carla
and HOET is my goal every day - to have Half On Every Tile
9:42 pm
stidmama
I like the idea of HOET - I am happy enough with nbt, nbs and then anything else I get
9:43 pm
hokie carla
I don't really care about getting NBS or half on the stats -HOES :D because I struggle wtih the long ones.
9:43 pm
stidmama
sometimes longer words are easier to monkey for me.
9:44 pm
hokie carla
I have to just come across them naturally. If I know a stat and am looking specifically, I can't find them. see: the di7 and 8s you referenced
9:46 pm
stidmama
makes sense.
9:46 pm
stidmama
down to 76. time to head out. have a good week! *poof*
9:50 pm
hokie carla

9:54 pm
phaeton
any one have a clue for the di8/80?
9:59 pm
hokie carla
feels like it needs the J or W in it
10:04 pm
hokie carla
but that hasn't helped me yet
10:24 pm
mich_pdx
okay, found the di 8/80! beginning di (letter) prefix to take apart, second half of a part-time professor - used that j!
10:28 pm
mich_pdx
di 7 - same beginning, then an old book
10:33 pm
mich_pdx
no clue about the last di 8, monkeys are tired and going to call it a night - good luck, and happy babbling (poof)
