She is still very ill. I was only able to stay a few minutes yesterday. All I know at the moment is that they do have her blood sugar under control, snd the infection that sent it crazy, but as far as I know they still have not identified this bacteria and I have not heard any new news yet. She was in and out of consciousness the few minutes that I was with her, then they had to take her for an ultrasound because of severe belly pain. This marks day five since she has eaten any food.

To top it all off we are in the middle of a lake effect blizzard with minus 35 degree windchill values, so I might get to go see her today and get an update if the weather clears later on. She is still under ICU isolation protocols because if this unknown bacteria.

It is hard. There is nothing proactive that I can do. She has a great medical team that includes two nurses watching her day and night, so I sit here at home and wait.

Just got an update: she was septic from a urinary infection, she has E-coli, and they may need to remove her gall bladder. :(

Well, the infection is treatable with medical support. Gall bladder removal by laparoscopy would be easiest for her recovery.

Get a really nice hand cream, Crossy, and massage it into her hands. Nice physical,intimate contact, without being icky. I really appreciated that when I was ill.

Crossy...my daughter had her gall bladder out last summer and it was an easy surgery. She was in and out before noon. HOpefully it goes as smoothly for your wife.

crossy, praying for your wife. when i was very very ill, every once in a while i would stop breathing....my husband would say loudly "breathe, Minka, Breathe! and i would take a breathe i guess, because i survived. ifnot for his saying this i believe i would have died......i remember being upset by this because what i was experiencing was real bliss: the white light, the sense of total happiness and rest, but then i would be brought back by his insistance that i breathe....anyway now i am so happy that he was there even though i didnt acknowledge it at the tiime. This went on even after my surgery to save my life. i was still stopping breathing now and then and well, my message crossy is dont feel that she doesnt realize when you are visiting her! your voice will penetrate to her even if she is not awake or alert!! i knew my husband was there!!!!!!!!! so do visit her once or even twice a day. visit, then take a break for lunch or dinner, then visit again for a while. it is amazing how you can sense your partners presence.

Vicki asked me to thank you all for all your prayers and healing vibes. Her biggest issue today os her veins--or lack of good ones to run a line. Her poor arns are battered, bruised and there is a open wound from the many attempts. They cannot run a pick line until Monday due to staffing issues with the people that do that, so after many, many attempts on varios parts of her body, it loks like they are going to use her neck. :(

Finally they gave her gravol by injection in the shoulder to ease her nausea, and it may allow her a little sleep as well. Now they just need the doctor to dign off on using her neck. He shot fown the idea yesterday, but we dhall see.

Sleepless night here, though I was falling asleep much earlier trying to watch TV with my son and my chap 9-10pm! Chap went to bed at about 11pm but son stayed chatting with me until midnight.I was kinda wide awake again by then, then dropped off again for about 2 hours on the sofa, and here I am, kind of awake again now wondering if anyone needs any help to finish this grid before the next one begins.
