hurshy, now I want to share this with you. It's an excerpt from a book I'm writing. I think you'll enjoy:
But something catastrophic happened around 70,000 years ago that wiped out nearly all humans. One theory posits a giant super volcano in Indonesia erupted. Thus, every person on Earth today is a descendant of that tiny group who survived 70,000 years ago. This explains why most animal DNA has thousands more variations than human DNA. What were we doing those first 65,000 years until recorded history began 5,000 years ago? Who knows? We apparently evolve very, very slowly.
