So you have to gain the most points of anyone at your table, by entering the most high-scoring words you can see. I only play "fives" in that game. That means I'll only enter words 5 letters in length or more... because they're worth so much more than smaller words, it's a waste of time entering small ones.

I had another dog with the same closeness He was an alsatian, ex police dog and I still miss him. His handler got divorced and I was asked to look after Duke for a 'couple of weeks'. His new wife had 4 young children, so difficult, and I kept the dog. What a star he was.

I prefer them to be dogs not fashion accessories. It maddens me when I see them in handbags for no good reason. An old lady nearby did eventually have to take her small dog to necessary places ie vet, trims, in a bag but that was not through choice as the dog had a walking problem. She let him go before it hurt too much and we cried for her.

Neil, I fell out with a friend who had decided to adopt a rescue dog and proceeded to pop it in a basket and 'walk it'. The crunch came when I found out that it lived in a cage, one outside and one inside, whenever it wasn't on show. I told the vet, who called the rescue centre and they re-rescued it. It needed attention. I told her, none of this was behind her back. She and hubbie now have a proper dog and love it!!!

Are we nuts. My black cat prefers to sleep on my keyboard. My tabby sleeps on top of my legs then blames me when I tip him on the floor in my sleep, I apologise. The Labrador sneaks on the bed followed by the black cat and there's NO chance of turning over. PS The friend now has a cat but the difference is the new hubbie who doesn't indulge her and she's a nicer person all round now. WAIT WHILE SHE HAS KIDS!!!

I suspect it does, trif; ours are dropping their leaves really fast this fall too - we had lots of rain in the spring, then a really hot and dry (although humid) summer, then a cool wet September (now it has been hot again). I think our trees are as confused as the rest of us :-)

we compost as well and put down horse manure twice a year. We did have a banner crop of potatoes this year. We do them above ground in those round bins....you start with very little soil and keep adding as the plant grows. So much better than in the ground with the critters eating them

best way to keep a fire going in the rain is to have a good base of coals,and set up a longer log on a line of rocks about 2 feet high and as it burns you can feed it into the flames..you can get flames very high this way
